The dress hat moment in my life - Essay congressmanThat was the start of the best moments in my life getting the chance to be immersed in a upstart lifestyle, to meet new people and develop new relationships, and pursue higher education to attain both personal and professional goals.I remember arriving in Denver on a bright mirthful morning. The moment the plane landed at Denver International Airport, my spirits were incredibly high. What was most striking about Denver was despite its modernity, the people were able to restore historical landmarks that showcased Victorian-era homes, such as the Bryers- Evan Homes and Molly Brown House keep in its grandeur. The architectural styles of most significant edifices were just magnificent that visitors would be awe-inspired and would be transported back in time, despite the ultra-modern environment of the rest of the city.Another best moment from being in Denver is the opportunity to be immersed slowly to a new culture and virtually new and fast-paced lifestyle. I was so impressed by the way people seem to be so always rushing somewhere, somehow, all the time. When I observe people, nature and historical landmarks as I sit from a bench at Cheesman Park, I noticed that all were immensely engaged in their respective endeavors and it is as if it was only me who was a spectator in their busy world. Likewise, it seemed that it was only me who had not been oriented yet that the park was reportedly one of the most haunted places in Denver. Court Observation - Essay ExampleIn the year 1978, five boys were reported missing and were presumed dead. The suspects that were captured at the time, lee side Evans and his cousin, womanize Hampton could not be held due to the absence of credible evidence. However, as time went by, the court found something to link Lee with the murders of the five teens. The issue that arose during the case was the linking of Lee to all the murders (Henry, p. 20). Questions as to why he would do such an act were asked. The public was very interested in the closure of the case. To this day, the bodies of the teens have not been recovered. Families of the deceased are appealing to the accused to disclose the location of the bodies. This is to allow them to be at peace and have the ability to let go of the memory of their befogged ones. Facts reveal that Lee Evans and his cousin led the teens into a vacant nominate, coiffure them in a closet, poured gasoline and lit it. They then left. It is bel ieved that the teens were forced to the abandoned house at gun point (Henry, p. 22). First, three were taken by Lee then two followed later. When asked the reason he was doing this by his cousin, Lee said it was payback since the boys had stolen his marijuana. The case came to a close as the jury found Philander Hampton guilty of the five counts of murder. This is because he had pleaded guilty to the charges. The case had gone cold and had been put under missing persons. A confession from Hampton helped law enforcement agencies to embark on the case again. This time they had a witness. Lee Evans still has not pleaded guilty to these charges (Henry, p. 23). There was a plea made by Lees exoneration for a mistrial but the judge, Patricia Costello, denied the motion for the mistrial. If the case was considered a mistrial, then the case would have to start all over again. Beside Hampton, Lee Evans is the only other person who truly knows what happened. This means that the prosecution is heavily reliant on his count of what happened. Since the fire ruined the credible evidence, the prosecutors have nothing else to go by. Lees defence asked the witness why he did not stop the accused from doing what he allegedly did. The answer Hampton gave was that he did not know Lee was going to do it (Henry, 25). He is the one who allegedly gave Lee the matches to use to set the place on fire. The prosecution in this case has a hard time since the evidence produced by their only witness is being questioned. With his tenth grade education, Hampton seemed confused with the account of what actually happened. Hampton, in his testimony, claims he fled from the scene of the crime before it was set on fire. He explained to the jurors in the case how the accused, Lee Evans, led the victims into the deserted build and carried out the actions (Millman, p. 15). Lee acted as his own defence at the beginning but later on, he decided to involve a public defender. The believability of the key witness was also questioned. This was because of his past criminal record. He had been arrested on several occasions and charged with drug possession. He was also charged with shoplifting. The defence thinks that Hampton was coerced into agreeing to testify against his cousin. They also think that if he is the key witness, why did he have to wait this long to decide to testify (Millman, p. 25). As a witness, Hampton had a lot on his plate. Family members claim that they suspected Lee Evans from the start. This is because, at the time of the

The Manifestations of Chivalry in the Past and Present Society Essay Example for Free

The Manifestations of Chivalry in the Past and Present Society EssayAndreas Capellanus, in his work The Art of Courtly Love, specifies the rules required in courtly practice. peerless of the rules specifies the importance of an individuals possession of good character. He states, Good character is the one real requirement for worthiness of love (Capellanus 115). Within Capellanus text, a manifestation of an individuals possession of good character, specifically a male individuals character, is his practice of knightliness. The Knights label of Chivalry was thereby a moral system which went beyond rules of combat and introduced the concept of Chivalrous conduct qualities idealized by knighthood, much(prenominal) as bravery, courtesy, honor, and gallantry toward women. The ideals described in the Code of Chivalry were emphasized by the oaths and vows that were sworn in the Knighthood ceremonies of the Middle Ages. These sacred oaths of combat were combined with the ideals of chivalry and with strict rules of etiquette and conduct.Chivalric practice thereby entails the utterance of elaborate precepts and formalities which serve to define disconsolate life in the heroism and probity of the onetime(prenominal) (Capellanus 116). An example of the workings of bold practice in the attainment of love is evident in Geoffrey of Monmouths account of King Arthurs actions and decisions during his lifetime. Geoffrey of Monmouth, in his book The History of the Kings of Britain, describes Arthur to be an individual of outstanding courageousness and generosity (whose) inborn goodness gave him such grace that he was loved by almost all the people (212).He states that King Arthur developed such a code of courtliness in his household thatinspired peoples living far away to imitate him (222). This code of courtliness which spread throughout the regions that reached Arthurs conquests were based on the fundamentals of chivalry which required an individuals display of s trength, wealth and power. In the case of Arthur, the display of his strength was evident from his initial enthronement at Silchester where he was enthroned by a vast multitude of individuals who admired and revered him for his courage (Geoffrey 212-213).This was also evident when he fought and defeated a numberless cloud as he conquered the kingdom of Ireland (Geoffrey 221-222). The display of his wealth and power, on the other hand, is evident as his counsel was sought by the contrasting individuals from other kingdoms (Geoffrey 222-223). It is kindle to note that there are certain aspects of Geoffrey of Monmouths account which leads to the conception of King Arthur as a demi-god. An example of this can be seen in his translation of King Arthurs sole defeat of the numberless horde of Irishmen. It is important to note that the ideals of chivalry were initially relevant to society in the Middle Ages because these knights upheld a standard of living which elevated society. The inf luential role the knights held during the Middle Ages was not achieved by chance but by education, faith, and by strictly following the rules of chivalry. In the later period of the Middle Ages, the depiction of chivalry as a noble characteristic became necessary however since the late Middle Ages was characterized by the grandeurs slow decline in their possession of political power in the state.By creating and perceiving previous noble individuals in a chivalric manner, the members of aristocratic families thereby enabled the continuance of their power within the eyes of the commoners. The use of chivalric tales as well as chivalric practices in order to achieve the universes awe is still prevalent in todays society as can be seen in the portrayal of actors in chivalric ways. Consider for example the case of Tom canvas who is portrayed as a chivalric hero in his movies. This image is continually applied to Cruise even in his real life.As a result of this, some individuals chose to act or imitate Cruises behaviors and style. The problem with the manifestations and the use of chivalry in todays society is thereby evident if one considers that as opposed to maintaining political power during the Middle Ages, chivalry is now employ in line with the commodification of an individuals desires and actions. For example, if one wishes to act and look like Cruise, it is necessary to watch his movies as well as buy the different magazines which presents a detailed account of his life as well as the life of his family. This conception of chivalry in todays society moreover shows how the market dictates and determines the lives of its consumers. Other manifestations of chivalry in todays society are closely related to etiquette and how a man treats a woman. Refraining from foul language, initiation the door for a lady, and even killing a spider can be considered chivalrous acts. As society changes it incorporate concepts such as chivalry into individuals lives.Chivalr y still exists in todays society however its manifestations have changed if one compares it to the practice of chivalry in the past which merely shows that although social development enables the continuance of social practices, it does so in such a way that these practices become a far-cry from its original practice in the past. The main goal for Aegis when entering into both partnerships was to bolster sales, and neither company had accomplished that. With the possibility of terminating either relationship, Aegis would nourish to find another strategy for improved sales. With the absence of this strategy, it will be more productive for the company to restructure their existing relationships. For both relationships, Aegis has entered into licensing a nd distribution agreements.POMS and ProPack have combined their name with Aegis for separate products, as well as working together to distribute each others products. Aegis and its partners have substantial a product that is the technological standard for its category, but can continue to add value to the product, making it desirable and useful in the future. In my opinion, the exceed way to increase the benefits of these relationships is to foster an environment of trust and communication to operate in. This is what Nandos failed to do and hence cost the in name of how fast the company expanded. It has rigidly and excessively stuck to its corporate culture exhibited in South Africa. Culture is a huge part of business, especially big international companies as it is tough to take all the determinants of culture into account of a social unit country, youve got to make sure you are not insulting anyone and all the barriers have been successfully resolved. The norms of culture are religion, political economic philosophies, education, language and social structure. The norms and values of culture evolve overtime. It is vital a manger tells their employees what these values and norms are so that they can carry out their duties how the mangers trust the company to be seen by its customers. The Nando s management in the South African headquarter had given no way of life for the management of its firms in other countries to operate freely this has given them no room for innovative strategic marketing planning in observance to the environs in which they operate in .The national culture of South Africa has greatly influenced the corporate culture of the Nandos organization and it thus constituted a negative impact when its adherence and transfer to other national culture that is not compatible , led to the unprofitable business operations in these countries . (Cross Cultural Management Report On Nandos Cultural Studies Essay)The impact of culture on issues such as negotiations with local suppliers and agents.Nandos are a company that basis themselves on serving their customers with novel never frozen chicken but this has come to a lower place scrutiny.Nandos came under fire in 2013 when a Daily Mail reporter wrote an article describing the whole story about why Nandos chicken isnt as wholesome as you think (Daily Mail, 2013). They suggested that Faccenda, one of Nandos main chicken suppliers, kept the chickens in poor conditions, (NandoS honourable Practice And How It Could Be Improved)these birds will have been bred in hangar-like sheds, never setting foot outdoors in the six weeks it takes them to reach their genetically engineered slaughter weight. (Daily Mail, 2013).If this was by it would have a knock on effect when the company went to negotiate with other suppliers and would maybe cause customers to go elsewhere for natural fresh chicken. For grammatical case Nandos main fresh chicken suppliers (uk) as posted on their website are Cargill, Moy Park, Faccenda, Freemans of Newent and 2sisters. The other suppliers of the fresh chicken may boycott the company as they dont want to be labelled with suppliers such as Faccenda as it could have repercu ssions on their trade in the future. This could leave Nandos with suppliers cancelling their trade agreements.Another impact this could have with negotiations with local suppliers and agents is with this article being released the other suppliers may demand more money as they are supplying fully fresh chicken compared to Faccenda suppliers.Nandos also came under scrutiny in 2014 when the guardian released an article questioning how ethical Nandos is. Recently the Enthoven family, who owns Nandos, has been found to have a secretive offshore 750m trust located in a Channel Islands. This offshore trust means that family can avoid UK inheritance tax on all their fortune (The Guardian, 2014). However the restaurant conference pointed out that they paid 12.6m in UK corporation tax last year. This also could have had an impact on Nandos when they want to expand in the UK in terms of taxes and the relationship with the government.Suggestions Nandos actions on social media is one of the ma in areas that needs to be adjusted in order to entice more people to eat in their restaurants. Social media connects everyone around the world. People of all cultures so Nandos must be careful want content/ads they release online as it could be seen as curious by one nation and disrespectful by another. Nandos is known for releasing these controversial adverts around the world. From my findings this is the main area the company needs to adjust or rethink. Whoever looks after the social media on behalf of Nandos make sure they have the necessary training it takes to operate these profiles. From my findings another area I havent mentioned a lot is the Nandos menu. It is intimately the same all across the world. 90% of the menu is the same as it is here in Ireland. I think a good idea would be to introduce more types of food options on menus in countries based on the culture of the country that Nandos operate in. For example India already has 5 restaurants, with Nandos planning on exp anding their. Integrate Indian delicacies to the menu to cater for that country to try entice more of the locals that are not fans of the Portuguese food Nandos serve.BibliographyLeigh, David, James Ball, and Leila Haddou.
